The claim

WHAT DO WE ASK TO THOSE RESPONSIBLE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS?

In addition to accepting the commitment to know the risks and challenges of the tags and to adopt guidelines for responsible tag use (content in Spanish), we are in the position to demand a safer online environment in this regard, especially for children and adolescents.

Thus, we request the social networks two complementary and / or alternatives measures:

  1. That there should be a default privacy setting on tags, which may be configured from lowest to highest level of security and demand
    Basic configuration:

    1. The setting should initially (by default) be in the most restrictive way possible for all users, or at least for those under 18.
    2. Who can tag us should be regulated:
      1. No one.
      2. Permission granted to each “friend” individually and to each new friend.
      3. Al “friends”

    Advanced Settings:

    1. Who can view the tags in which the user is identified should be regulated
    2. Specific areas where the tags are active (or visible) should be regulated.
  1. It should alert the user when it’s tagged, asking explicit permission to publish and notify about the tag (obviously, before it’s visible to others).

Other beneficial measures to protect online privacy and coexistence are:

  • more effective ways to share tags outside the context of the social network itself, independent of other kinds of notifications.
  • synchronous online notification within the network
  • immediate freeze until user signs in, at which point the notice is shown for confirmation.
  • multiple erasing options for user’s own tags including ripple effect for the copies.
